How Good Can It Get? And How Deeply are We Willing to Feel All of It?

December 30, 2022

In this fun moment from Sounding: Soulstice, we improvised in 5/5 time, a meter that tends to be more unfamiliar to our ears, hearts, hands and feet, here in the Western world.

Try it, improvise along with me!

I predict that there will be lots of moments in 2023 that provide opportunities to step out of the rhythms we’ve been used to.

This year, you will quit your soul-sucking jobs, birth those yearslong-backburned businesses, heal from illnesses, at least one of you will move to a new country (and invite me to teach a workshop there, when you do).

Some of you have kids leaving the nest (and you’ll turn that bedroom into a yoga studio), while some of you will birth, adopt, and care for newborns, 8 year olds, and 80 year olds.

You will buy homes, travel, be in love, let love go, engage in new philanthropic endeavors, make documentaries, eat something you never ate before, swim with narwhals (AKA unicorn whales).

The new year invites us to expand our palettes of what’s possible for us, stretch our capacity for growth and transformation, and hold a wider range of sensation as we navigate uncertainty.

How good can it get? And how deeply are we willing to feel all of it?

How much joy can we hold without zoning out, doomscrolling, drama-seeking, or shutting down? How willing are we to ride waves of turbulence with grace and inner grounding?

How great can it get? Whether by an increment of 1% or 1,000%?

Are you ready to make decisions from that empowered state of full presence, rather than the autopilot of worry, distress, and distraction?

Tap into your power source: the irresistible joy, creativity, and clarity already inside of you, where your best, most fulfilling choices and quality of life reside.
